More Coconut Fun and a Density Experiment

Today we had some more baking soda and vinegar fun using coconut shells!  We added shampoo and vanilla to our vinegar to make the explosions more foamy and sweet smelling, just to mix it up a bit and make it more "tropical".

Then we moved inside to test the density of salt water versus fresh water, using various toys and an egg.  Then, for a good visual, we added blue food coloring to our salt water and then spooned some salt water into fresh water to see if it would float, mix in, or sink to the bottom.

As Shep points out in the following picture, the salt water sinks because it's more dense!

Yeah, Mr White!  Yeah, science!
