Shepard's Surgery
Sorry it's been awhile since the last post, but we've been pretty busy recently, mostly with dealing with Shepard's recently diagnosed vascular ring. In a nutshell for those that don't know, Shep's aorta curves towards his throat instead of his shoulder and the aortic structure is wrapped around his esophagus and larynx, basically strangling him internally. His pulmonologist saw signs of this complication back in March, and after multiple tests to confirm the diagnosis we were finally able to have his condition surgically repaired last Friday! Our kid's a trooper, and is already off all pain medication and is bouncing off the walls with more energy than he's ever had before. We're so proud of him! And we could not be more complimentary of Dr Kogon and the entire cardiac staff at CHOA Egleston - they were all fantastic throughout this whole ordeal!
All smiles before surgery:
The goofy juice kicking in:
Our sweet boy sleeping in recovery:
Hopefully this will be the only hospital room ever assigned to him!
On the mend!
